OUR APPROACH

Why is arts education essential?

Arts education is essential because it allows the development of an individual’s human qualities such as empathy, listening to others, compassion, social skills, openness to the world, and to diversity of expressions and tolerance.

Arts education also allows the development of self-confidence, discipline, perseverance, and leadership as well as control of emotions. The arts teach us how to articulate our vision and dreams while giving us the keys to authentic expression. These are all skills that we need in the world and that the younger generations will need in the world of tomorrow.

Numerous studies have shown that the arts can change the lives of young people from underprivileged backgrounds and/or with great academic difficulties by improving their success rates in school, by reducing high-risk dropouts (Bowen and Kisida, 2019).

Our educative approach

Our educational approach is pluridisciplinary and includes three major disciplines: vocal studies, dance, and theatre as well as stage expression. The Singing Tree students thus acquire comprehensive artistic training.

Our artistic project is committed and focused on the needs of the individual. We want to awaken a love for the performing arts and give birth to vocations.

Founded by Nandita Natarajan, The Singing Tree is the ideal program to discover all the disciplines of the stage and to thrive in groups within an international activist community. The Singing Tree is an innovative program that cares about its students, their well-being, and their environment.

Our educational approach is based on four strong pillars

Inclusion

We believe that having access to an arts education is a fundamental right that contributes to the emotional, cognitive and physical development of the child. The Singing Tree promotes diversity, inclusion, and gender equality. Diversity is a gift that we want to promote in all our programs.

Passion

We believe that passing on our passion for the performing arts to the younger generations cultivates creativity in young people and inspires them to work positively in their community.

Community

We promote education for peace and the transmission of strong humanitarian values such as welcoming others, respect, and intercultural understanding.

Co-creation

We care about the future of the younger generations and their environment. We want to make their aspirations and dreams heard through the performing arts in order to co-create with them a better future.
